NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Norfolk judge found a 27-year-old man guilty on felony drug and gun charges.

According to court documents, on Nov. 25, 2023, officers noticed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Smith Street, and then running a stop sign at the intersection of Church Street and Olney Road. This is in the Young Terrace area.

Officers then conducted a traffic stop, where they then noticed a handgun in the cupholder between the driver, Antoine Legrande, and the front seat passenger.

Legrande then claimed ownership of the firearm and allowed officers to take and secure the firearm, later showing the receipt of purchase for the gun.

Shortly afterwards, officers found a bottle of pills, later identified as Percocet, on the floor of the car. Legrande told officers the Percocet was his, but said he did not have a prescription.

On Tuesday, Legrande pleaded not guilty of felony possession of a schedule II drug and possession of a firearm while possessing a schedule II drug, opting to be tried by a judge. Judge Robert Rigney then found Legrande guilty on both counts.

Legrande previously faced charges related to a triple homicide on Granby Street outside of Chicho’s Backstage in March of 2022. His charges were set aside after two witnesses failed to report to court.

Legrande’s sentencing is scheduled to take place on Dec. 20.
