    Business owner among two killed in Suffolk shooting

    SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two men are dead, one a well known business owner, and three others are injured after a shooting on Suffolk’s East side.

    Suffolk Police responded to calls for shots fired just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday night to the 800 block of East Washington Street.

    When they arrived to to the lot of the former H.M. White Bus Service, they found the victims, as well as dozens of shell casings, bullet riddled vehicles and shattered glass.

    During a news conference Friday afternoon, Suffolk Police Chief James Buie said 37-year-old William Goodman Jr. was pronounced dead on the scene.

    30-year-old Demonte Tillery was taken to the hospital where he later died.

    Two men and a woman shot were still in the hospital with serious injuries as of Friday afternoon according to Buie. They are expected to survive their injuries.

    Residents nearby didn’t want to appear on camera, but one of them said the gunfire “sounded like a warzone” and couldn’t give an exact number of gunshots but estimated it was “several dozen.”

    Photos taken of the scene show a work truck that was damaged by the gunfire. Bullet holes can be seen on the side of the truck as well as shattered glass on the driver’s side. The truck has “Good Guys Enterprise LLC” branding on it.

    WAVY is working to learn more about the known victims in the incident. 10 On Your Side’s Brett Hall confirmed that Goodman is the owner of this dump truck.

    The police chief confirmed that there were several vehicles struck by gunfire. WAVY was on the scene when a green F-150 with visible bullet holes was towed away.

    So far, there’s been no suspect information released regarding in the Suffolk shooting, and the condition of the three victims in the hospital will continue to be monitored.

    This is the second deadly shooting in the city of Suffolk this week. 24-year-old Alvin Brown Jr. was killed in a shooting on the 6100 block of Old Townpoint Road Monday just after 2 p.m. Police said he was shot in the chest and died at the hospital.

    A local activist decried the Suffolk shooting, and other shootings that he said are devastating communities.

    “It’s destroying our community,” said Bilal Muhammad, who lost his son to gun violence. “So when I say it’s hurting our community, it’s not helping our community.”

    This is a every day occurrence in Hampton Roads , Portsmouth, Norfolk ,Va beach, Newport News , cheaspeake The past 25 yrs and we all know the problem but we can’t speak of it

    This was apparently an incident of private issues that went ( South ) so the Police , the Mayor , the Governor nor anyone's ( Mama ) could have intervene ♦️ Iam an Armed citizen and was Not there either 🙄
