RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia State Police (VSP) announced the launch of a new website and social media page to help increase the number of prospective troopers.

According to a release, the site, which went live on Sept. 16, maximizes video and marketing tactics in order to increase the number of recruits. In addition, the site provides relevant information about what a career with VSP would look like.

“We are looking to recruit the next generation of Virginia State Troopers, and to be successful, we know we must engage them online,” Colonel Gary T. Settle, VSP Superintendent said. “It is special to earn the title of ‘State Trooper,’ a title synonymous with our commitment to excellence, dedication to service, and our standard for professionalism.”

The launch of the new site comes after smaller Basic Session Academy classes over the past few years, with over 300 vacancies currently available for the department.

“The safety and security of Virginians is my top priority,” Governor Glenn Youngkin said. “We need more state troopers on the streets, and these efforts will help State Police close the gap, and further our mission to make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Both the website and social media page were created alongside the video marketing company EPIC Productions, which, according to the release, is a “leading law enforcement recruiting agency” in the United States.

“This new website is cutting edge and is representative of the technology we are bringing to law enforcement in the Commonwealth,” Terrance C. Cole, Virginia’s Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security said. “This new website and social media marketing campaign is just a part of our effort to display the opportunities available to those willing to step forward and join us in protecting the Commonwealth.”
