VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — While Pharrell’s recent postponement of Something in the Water left festivalgoers in disappointment, there’s another local music festival on the horizon.

Debuting next month, the Waves Minifest will highlight diverse talent within the Hampton Roads arts community, allowing the community to support local artists, such as founder BJ Griffin and The Fuzz Band from Oct. 11-13.

The shows are free and open to the public, and will take place on the 17th Street and 24th Street stages.

In addition to showcasing musical talents, Waves will partner with local businesses to host events.

Attendees are encouraged to use the hashtag #RipplesTurnToWaves in social media posts associated with the upcoming festival.

Griffin said a to-be-announced national act would perform on the 24th Street stage.
