SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A car slammed into a convenience store in Suffolk Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. on the 1500 block of Holland Road. The driver of the car and a store employee were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

A photo from the scene shows what appears to be a tobacco shelf lying on top of the check out counter.

We are working to find out what caused the crash.

The cause ???? Cell phone has everyone hypnotized, I was hit by car walking home from work in April, Youngman, on phone not paying attention told police he didn't see me until he was right up on me, broke my left leg still doing rehab but GOD saved me once again. I don't see the importance of being on the phone driving unless emergency. All this sitting in cars on the phone is crazy. Just be mindful of others if you can.And they still flying through SCHOOL zones the kids matter they say, nothing but lies no common sense and they just don't care no more.

Pretty obvious the driver was going way to fast for where they were at. The second part is up for intelligent debate. Was the driver going so fast they lost control, were they on their phone or was it a little of everything?
