Suffolk Police respond to fatal single-vehicle crash on Holland Rd.

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Suffolk Police Department responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Holland Road Tuesday night.

According to officials, just before 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Route 58 and Holland Road in reference to a vehicle accident.

Officers arrived to the scene and found a box truck which had overturned and gone into a nearby embankment. The sole occupant of the vehicle, 56-year-old Todd Jones of Norfolk, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

As a result of the crash, the eastbound lanes of the Holland Bypass were closed for approximately nine hours while crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes have since reopened.

The incident remains under investigation and no additional information has been released.
