Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick announced as guest moderator of JD Vance’s Greensboro town hall

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Vice presidential hopeful JD Vance will be making a stop in Greensboro this week alongside a celebrity guest.

According to an email from the Trump-Vance campaign on Wednesday, Senator Vance will be holding a town hall in Greensboro on Thursday at 6 p.m. and will have a special guest moderator, former race car driver Danica Patrick.

Patrick is a former race car driver and model who is currently the only woman to ever win an IndyCar Series. She spent seven years in NASCAR, driving in 191 races in the Cup Series and 61 races in the Xfinity Series. She officially retired from racing in 2018 and has become a supporter of former President Donald Trump.

“Kamala Harris has completely failed the people of North Carolina. Not only has she released historic inflation and a flood of convicted illegal immigrants onto them, but she completely left North Carolinians behind in the wake of devastation post-Hurricane Helene. Harris’ failures have placed a huge burden on taxpayers, and it shows how little she cares about the well-being of Tar Heel State families,” the release states.

In response, the Harris campaign referenced remarks the vice president gave on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Monday.

“There’s a lot of mis- and disinformation being pushed out there by the former president about what is available, in particular to the survivors of Helene,” Harris said. “And, first of all, it’s extraordinarily irresponsible. It’s about him. It’s not about you. And the reality is that FEMA has so many resources that are available to folks who desperately need them now, and resources that are about helping people get back on their feet and rebuild and have places to go. You are entitled to these resources. People are entitled to these resources, and it is critically important that people apply for the help that is there to support. That – all of those resources were created for just these kinds of moments in an emergency situation, knowing that folks are entitled to have the relief that they so rightly need at this moment in time.”

The town hall will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Koury Convention Center. Doors open at 4 p.m.
