NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – The Propeller Clubs of Norfolk and Newport News are set to host a Maritime Career Festival next Saturday.

The festival is scheduled to take place on Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mariners’ Museum and Park in Newport News. Guests will have to pay $1 for admission.

Attendees will be able to expect interactive demonstrations and activities from local maritime companies, in addition to having full access to the Mariners’ Museum and Park.

“The success of our local maritime industry depends on developing the next generation of our workforce and as current industry stakeholders, we are well positioned to showcase the dynamic career opportunities available to them,” President of Propeller Club, Port of Norfolk Camille Crofton Cherry said.

During the festival, local maritime organizations will provide interactive displays, such as welding simulators, hydraulic tools, diving equipment and hydraulic truck cranes.

“Hampton Roads is at the heart of the Maritime Industrial Base, a vital engine that powers our local communities, the state of Virginia, the nation’s Department of Defense, and global economy,” board member of the Newport News Propeller Club Courtney Culpepper said.
