Domestic incident in Mathews County results in two fatalities

MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man and woman were pronounced deceased on Friday morning in the Dutton area of Mathews County.

Mathews County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man lying on the ground in the 100 block of Twiggs Ferry Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman lying on the ground alongside the man.

A preliminary investigation revealed there was a domestic incident that took place during the nighttime, per a release.

Evidence was obtained from the scene and both bodies are in the custody of the Medical Examiner in Norfolk.

Sheriff Edwards assured the incident is no threat to the community but asked for prayers to the family grieving the loss of two family members.
