Photos: Excavator traps one occupant in Carrsville

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) — An excavator trapped one occupant underneath it early Tuesday morning.

Just before 12:25 a.m., emergency crews responded to the 32100 block of Airport Drive in Carrsville in reference to an overturned excavator trapping an individual. It took more than 30 minutes to free the patient.

Medics provided assistance until the Sentara Nightingale Air Ambulance arrived.

Once patient care was transferred, Sentara Nightingale airlifted the patient to a local trauma center.

The emergency crews that responded to it were Isle of Wight Fire Rescue Medic 20, Battalion 1, Battalion 3, Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department, Windsor Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin Fire and Rescue.
