Chesapeake Police arrest suspect in hit-and-run accident

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake Police arrested a suspect in connection to a hit-and-run accident on Friday morning.

At approximately 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a report in reference to the crash on North Battlefield Boulevard near Woodlake Drive.

The victim remained at the scene and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, however, left the scene before officers arrived. The driver was later located and arrested.

The incident is an active investigation.

I was a passenger in a vehicle that passed the accident scene and saw the vehicle where the victim had been removed and taken to the hospital. 🏥 Due to the damage to the vehicle, I'm thankful that the injuries weren't life-threatening. ✝️ Please keep the victim in your prayers. 💔 As I didn't see another vehicle, I wrongly assumed that it had been removed from the accident scene. 🤔 Unfortunately, the other driver left the scene after running a red light and T-boning the victim severely pushing in the driver's door over to the front passenger seat. 🚦 Leaving the accident scene where it is a miracle that the other driver survived is a serious crime. 🚔 I was twice hit by hit and run drivers while driving my elderly mother, who has since passed away. 😥 Unfortunately, neither hit and run driver was ever caught. 😯 Thankfully, this hit and run driver was caught. 👮 Thanks to all the police, fire, and EMS who assisted with the accident and caught the hit and run driver. 🥰

Glad they were able to get this person after leaving the scene of an accident, especially with injuries.
