NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Several dogs have been placed under quarantine in Newport News after one of them bit a child.

On Monday, the child was walking their dog when four strays attacked them, according to Wayne Gilbert with the Newport News Department of Parks and Recreation’s Animal Welfare Division.

The dogs were placed under quarantine at their owner’s home. Gilbert says that anytime a dog bites a human it is placed under a 10 day quarantine.

On Wednesday night, two of the dogs escaped quarantine but were later picked up at the owner’s home and are now in quarantine at the shelter. The other two dogs remain in the home because they did not break quarantine.

Gilbert also said the division received at least two other calls about the dogs prior to this incident.

For the idiots and bully haters on this thread…after reading multiple articles and watching videos too, there is ZERO evidence that these were bully breeds. Most pits are mutts anyway, it’s true. If these were pits? It would be the first sentence. So ZERO evidence. It also is not the fault of the DOGS that they are not trained, socialized or securely housed. That would be as always, the HUMAN’S fault!
