HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A Kamala Harris billboard on the side of Business 85 in High Point was defaced this week.

The billboard, which originally read “Kamala Harris voted to expand & strengthen Medicare,” was defaced with paint reading “Trump” and drawings on a portrait of Harris.

The High Point Police Department says they are looking to see if anyone reported the vandalism.

The billboard was replaced on Thursday afternoon by a new one with a message about ending poverty.

Guilford County Democratic Party Chairman Kathy Kirkpatrick says she was aware of the vandalism before FOX8 reached out to her.

“It’s petty, it’s below people. It’s just ridiculous. It’s just showing a level of division we don’t need,” Kirkpatrick said.

Guilford County Republican Party Chairman Chris Meadows also says they don’t condone the vandalism.

“It happens on both sides. Some of the signs from the DNC and Democratic party on the side of the highway are a whole lot worse than that,” Meadows said.

According to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, charges for larceny or vandalism depend on the amount of damage done to determine if someone will be charged with a misdemeanor or felony.

Now both Meadows and Kirkpatrick are calling on voters to have self-control the rest of this election season.
