DETROIT (WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a reported freeway shooting on I-75 near the Detroit/Lincoln Park border.

In a statement on X , State Police said the Detroit Regional Communication Center received a report of the shooting on Friday (7/26) around 3:15 p.m. on southbound I-75 at Outer Drive.

The investigation revealed two drivers on the freeway became involved in a “rolling argument” with each other regarding driving. One of the drivers pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the other, according to State Police.

The round struck the car of a third driver, who called to report the shooting; State Police said.

    No injuries were reported.

Troopers are examining recovered evidence and technology from the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

“This is another case of two drivers being unable to de-escalate from each other during a driving dispute,” First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said in the statement. “If you are driving and see a driver trying to engage with you, call 911. Try to exit if possible, and if not possible, try to create as much distance as possible. Most importantly, do no make eye contact with them.”
