WVSP investigating fire truck crash

WAYNE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Sgt. L. Pennington was dispatched by Wayne 911 for a single-vehicle crash involving a fire truck on Grassy Lick Road near Wayne.

Upon arrival, Sgt. L. Pennington observed a fire truck belonging to Green Valley VFD that had gone over an embankment and into the creek. The truck, occupied by four Firefighters, was en route to a fire call, traveling south on Grassy Lick Road. The driver of the truck lost control, leading to the crash.

One firefighter was transported to Cabell-Huntington Hospital via HealthNet helicopter, and the remaining firefighters were transported by ambulance. Sgt. L. Pennington is investigating the incident with assistance from the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department.

This investigation is ongoing.
