Back pain, arthritis, hot flashes, headaches, hormonal imbalance and other health issues was the laundry list of problems Denise Lehmann experienced in her early 50s before discovering the effects of red light therapy. She opened dtXfy (pronounced detoxify), a red light therapy, sauna studio that’s using the latest technology in light therapy to revitalize the body.

“When I started feeling the natural effects of age, that’s when I got into holistic wellness,” Lehmann said. “I have all of these treatments in my home, but I wanted everyone to have access to these treatments, so I opened a stuido.”

dtXfy which has a studio in Manayunk and a studio in Wayne, Penn., uses a “3 degrees of renewal” regiment with its red light therapy room, its sauna that’s at a lower temperature than traditional saunas, and its 6D massage chairs. Lehmann suggests beginning with a 6D massage to become even more relaxed during the other treatments.

“These are not the massage chairs you sit in at the mall,” said PHL17 intern Kamil Rozanski while trying out the chair. “I can just lie here for the rest of the day.”

The saunas throughout the studio use red light therapy, a non-invasive treatment that regenerates the body’s cells. While more research and clinical trials are needed, initial findings are showing promise in treating wrinkles, redness, acne, scars and other signs of aging. Lehmann also says red light therapy improves health overall providing better sleep, less inflammation, less muscle and joint pain and more.

On World Brain Day, July 22, dtXfy introduced its newest service, the Brain Boost (PBM) Helmet . It has 256 LED, near-infrared lights that gives the mitochondria inside the brain a boost of energy. In other words, the helmet recharges the cells in the brain that generate most of the chemical energy needed to power the body. Lehmann said the treatment is known to help cognition as well as heal various neurological conditions.

“This is going to change medicine,” Lehmann said, whose favorite Brain Boost Helmet treatment is the “Peak Focus” setting. “Helmets like these that emit stronger red light waves and near-infrared lights are used to treat Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.”

dtXfy is located on Main Street in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philadelphia or in the Gateway Shopping Center in Wayne, Penn. For more information on booking a session, go to dtXfy sauna studio .
