    Here's the weekend forecast for Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro

    Clouds and rain will only cool things off so much.

    While showers and thunderstorms are still possible for the valley, heavier rains have been hitting communities east of the Blue Ridge.

    Friday evening could be messier. NWS calls for showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11 p.m., giving way to patchy fog after 1 a.m. For the most part the night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 67 and a light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Saturday: Heating up again

    There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Then mostly sunny skies, with a high near 89. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%, according to National Weather Service.

    In the evening, temps will drop to around 68 under partly cloudy skies. Winds will be calm.

    Sunday: New week starts in the 90s

    Sunday will be sunny, with a high near 94, with a light west wind.

    The evening will be mostly clear, with a low around 69.

    Monday: Getting closer to 100

    As of Friday afternoon, NWS has the high temp of a sunny Monday being around 97.
