Armstrong boys basketball played two games last week, falling to Wayzata and Osseo.

    Wayzata

Armstrong opened the week with a 95-69 loss to cross-town rivals Wayzata at home Feb. 20. The Trojans, who had one loss ahead of last week, presented a serious challenge for the Falcons.

Armstrong did find its share of points, especially from Seth Newbern and Desmond Ware, who scored 20 and 18 points, respectively. Wayzata’s Isaac Olmstead was the top scorer with 23.

    Osseo

Armstrong concluded the week with a 76-69 conference loss to Osseo at home Feb. 22, adjusting their conference record to 8-6, 13-11 overall.

The result extended a difficult run of losses for Armstrong to three games, but context is key. The Falcons lost to high-performing Maple Grove, Wayzata and Osseo teams Feb. 16-22 after winning six straight games against Blaine, Centennial, Champlin Park, Coon Rapids, Roosevelt and Elk River.

Armstrong played two games on the road the following week to conclude their regular season, traveling to Cretin-Derham Hall and Bloomington Kennedy Feb. 26 and 29, respectively.
