Closures on DuSable Lake Shore Drive coming this weekend: Find out where

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - After a few days off, the resurfacing of DuSable Lake Shore Drive (DLSD) will resume on the North Side this weekend, conflicting with what will be quite a busy weekend in the city.

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) provided an update to their roadwork plan along DLSD, announcing full closures will start Sunday afternoon.

Beginning at 3 p.m., from Lawrence to Hollywood avenues, all northbound lanes will be closed. All traffic will be detoured at Lawrence. Lanes will reopen at 6 a.m.

The slated closure coincides with Chicago’s eventful Sunday afternoon. By the late afternoon, there is sure to be a confluence of traffic coming from the noon Bears game, the Taste of Chicago as well as the Cubs game.

CDOT urges drivers to plan ahead and allow for extra time in their trips. CDOT also asks drivers to look out for flaggers and construction signage when entering and approaching work zones.

CDOT plans to conduct roadwork on the North Side portion of DLSD until overnight Friday, Sept. 13.

Here is the roadwork schedule for Sunday, Sept. 8 through Thursday, Sept. 13:

Sunday, Sept. 8 :
-At 3 p.m., ALL LANES of northbound DLSD will be closed between Lawrence and Hollywood. Traffic will be diverted at Lawrence.
-By 6 a.m., all lanes will reopen.

Monday, Sept. 9 :
-At 7 p.m., northbound and southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Hollywood and Lawrence.
-At 9 p.m., ALL LANES of northbound and southbound DLSD will be closed between Hollywood and Lawrence. Traffic will be diverted at Lawrence.
-By 6 a.m., all lanes will reopen.

Tuesday, Sept. 10 :
-At 7 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Hollywood and Lawrence.
-At 9 p.m., ALL LANES of southbound DLSD will be closed between Hollywood and Lawrence. Traffic will be diverted at Lawrence.
-By 6 a.m., all lanes will reopen.

Wednesday, Sept. 11 :
-At 7 p.m., northbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Hollywood and Lawrence.
-At 9 p.m., ALL LANES of northbound DLSD will be closed between Hollywood and Lawrence . Traffic will be diverted at Lawrence.
-By 6 a.m., all lanes will reopen.

Thursday, Sept. 12 :
-At 7 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Hollywood and Lawrence.
-At 9 p.m., ALL LANES of southbound DLSD will be closed between Hollywood and Lawrence. Traffic will be diverted at Lawrence.
-By 6 a.m., all lanes will reopen.

The DLSD resurfacing project began this spring and, when ultimately completed, will span from LaSalle Drive to Hollywood Avenue. CDOT expects to finish by late October.
