(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A disturbance outside an Evanston middle school led to the arrests of five children and one adult.

Police say it happened before 8 a.m. outside Haven Middle School on Prairie Avenue after a child pulled out a knife.

It's not known if the children attended the school.

The incident resulted in Haven Middle School and the nearby Haven Middle School being placed on lockdown.

“Per District 65, the lockdown has been lifted. Initial investigation indicates that a group was involved in an outdoor altercation and a knife was presented,” the Evanston Police Department shared in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

No one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
