(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The long awaited return of a beloved Gold Coast restaurant is set for later this month.

Tavern on Rush is set to open on Sept. 30, Stefani Restaurant Group announced on Friday.

"For generations, this restaurant has been a cornerstone of our community, a place that held so many memories,” owner Phil Stefani said in a written statement.

“It’s a privilege to welcome back loyal patrons to experience a new chapter in our story while also inviting new patrons to make new memories together.”

The steakhouse and bar closed in October 2022 after nearly 25 years in Chicago. The decision was made after the company decided not to renew its lease with the landlords.

The restaurant is returning close to its roots in a space located across the street from its old location, which is currently home to the Bellevue Chicago.

Tavern on Rush’s new location will be on the ground and second floors of the Thompson Chicago at 1015 N. Rush St.

The 16,000-square-foot space will include a main dining room, cocktail lounge, bar, outdoor patio and multiple rooms for private events.

Tavern on Rush will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, as well as brunch on the weekends. Guests at the hotel will be able to order room service from Tavern on Rush, and the restaurant will also provide catering for banquets on the third and fourth floors.

Some of the restaurant’s iconic elements will be returning, including Ladies Night on Mondays beginning this fall.

Additionally, Benny Nadzaku, who was described as “one of the faces” of the former restaurant, will return to the new space.

Tavern on Rush will begin with dinner service on Spet. 30 from 3 p.m. to midnight, and will eventually return to being open from 7 a.m. to midnight daily.
