Reservations open for Christmas-time favorite the Walnut Room

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Reservations opened Friday for a downtown Christmas-time favorite, but some people ran into difficulties at first.

Whether you choose the traditional chicken pot pie or any of the other offerings, Christmas-time reservations opened Friday for the Walnut Room restaurant at the downtown Macy’s.

The 117 year old restaurant is said to be the first and longest-running restaurant in a department store.

The holiday favorite returns Nov. 2 through Jan. 12.

However, Friday morning, people struggled to connect to the reservation system and those who did get through were only able to make reservations up to the end of November.

Around noon on Friday, it appeared that reservations for the duration of the holiday season were available.

People who have dined recently at the Walnut Room have been given an even earlier chance to make Christmas-time reservations.
