(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There's new information about a controversial police response in northwest Indiana that ended with the death of a 26-year-old man.

Sheriff's deputies in Jasper County have released body-worn camera video of the night officers were called to the home of Rhyker Earl – as he was having a mental health crisis.

Investigators say 26-year-old Earl, who was epileptic, was having a seizure at his home in DeMotte on Sept. 8.

Police say paramedics asked for help from deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, after Earl became agitated and physically resistant.

The sheriff's office released multiple body cam videos of the incident, which showed the struggle between deputies and Earl.

The body camera footage can be viewed here. Warning: The video contains graphic violence and language.

Earl was eventually taken to a hospital, where he later died.

An attorney for Earl's family accuses police of causing his death by using excessive force, including multiple deputies holding him face down.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office claims deputies restrained Earl to prevent him from harming himself or others.

The video was released with permission from Indiana State Police, who are investigating Earl's death.

First, my condolences to the family who lost a loved one and for the lord to help them deal with such a tragic loss. I immediately became angry after being told the cause was from excessive force imposed by several officers. After watching the officers body camera videos, the incident was completely the opposite from what I envisioned and expected to see. His cause of death will be answered post autopsy and blood screen. My first question would be the type & amount of sedatives administered in such a short period of time. As far as the officers are concerned, I didn’t view anything that caused me to believe excessive force was used but will leave that for the professionals to figure out.
