CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Things are flowing again on a block on Chicago’s Northwest Side after a water main break Sunday.

One Dunning resident called it their own little hurricane, brown water that filled Oriole Avenue near Cornelia.

Neighbors say it took hours to shut off the water that was flooding the street and spilling onto sidewalks.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Water Management told WBBM there was a break in a 12-inch water main Sunday, but crews repaired it and restored water service as of 3 a.m.

They were also cleaning up the area and making sure drains were clear. Neighbors said the water smelled and left sediment behind.
