Arlington Heights elementary school nurse let go for allegedly giving students incorrect medication

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A northwest suburban elementary school nurse has been let go for allegedly giving incorrect medication to students.

It was happening at Westgate Elementary School in Arlington Heights, according to school officials, who say she was an employee for 5 years.

District 25's Board Resolution showed that during a special meeting, the board voted 6 to 0 to terminate the nurse. This took place a little more than two weeks after she was placed on administrative leave, which is when district officials say they were made aware of concerns about her.

An attorney for the families deem the nurse's firing overdue but incomplete, calling for more administrators to be put on leave and urging further investigation. The said evidence suggests reports of missing medication dating back to 2022.

The investigation is ongoing and while police are involved, no charges have been filed yet.
