CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Governor JB Pritzker revved up democrats during a prime-time speech Tuesday night at the DNC that was part attack on former President Trump and part boast about Illinois.

Pritzker highlighted the state’s ties to former Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama, claimed Kamala Harris as a native due to her brief time living here and referred to Michael Jordan.

The governor also blasted former President Trump, labeling him as a con artist and saying he left the country a mess for Harris to clean up.

“If Americans are Black or Brown, they want to get promoted without being derided as DEI hire for the sin of being successful while not white,” Pritzker said.

Tonight’s theme is "A Fight for our Freedoms" and will feature speeches from VP candidate Gov. Tim Walz, former President Bill Clinton, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will headline a concert tonight at the Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport.
