VIDEO: Police searching for person of interest in shooting death of postal worker

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago Police have released a video of a person of interest in a homicide of an on-duty U.S. postal employee.

Officials are seeking to identify the person of interest, who is suspected of shooting and killing a postal worker in the West Pullman neighborhood last month.

The shooting took place on the 12100 block of South Harvard Avenue on July 19, according to police.

The person of interest was seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and black shoes. Police say they were seen on the 7000 block of S. Campbell before the shooting took place.

The postal worker was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Octavia Redmond. The suspect is said to have fled the scene in a vehicle.

In the video, that vehicle appears to be a white Dodge Durango, which police were searching for following the shooting. The vehicle was found torched the next day.

“The Postal Inspection Service reiterates its commitment to identifying, locating, and arresting the individual who murdered her in cold blood,” said Spencer Block, public information officer and postal inspector with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Chicago office.

“And that we remind the public that our agency has a reward out there for up to $250,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible suspects.”
