CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police say one person has been charged after a shooting Wednesday morning on a North Side CTA Red Line train.

According to the police department, a 23-year-old woman spat on another passenger on a Red Line train near the Argyle stop and began arguing with him at around 8:40 a.m.

Then, police said she pulled out a gun and shot the 33-year-old man once in the shoulder.

On Thursday, police announced that charges had been filed against Indya Smith of Chicago for the shooting.

Paramedics took the man to Ascension Saint  Francis Hospital in fair condition.

Police News Affairs said officers arrested the woman and recovered a weapon. No one else was injured.

The CTA halted trains for about an hour as police investigated.

The CTA has been testing a gun-detection system since late August, but a spokeswoman told us ZeroEyes uses surveillance cameras at stations, not onboard trains. They are not specifying which stations they are testing the gun-detection system at.
