(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Attorneys representing the Highland Park parade shooting suspect want some of his recorded interrogation with authorities kept away from his trial.

The suspect accused in the Highland Park massacre says he was denied access to legal counsel during a police interrogation.

The claim stems from Robert Crimo III assistant public defenders who filed a written motion on Tuesday asking the judge to prohibit from trial some of the interrogation that happened on July 4, 2022.

Crimo's lawyers said authorities misled Crimo during that interrogation conducted in response to the shooting spree that claimed the lives of seven people at the north suburb's Independence Day parade. They claim he was not notified when representation retained by his family arrived.

The motion will not be discussed until a Nov. 14 hearing.
