This week’s Green Sense Minute features Brendan Daley, Vice President of Operations at Lincoln Park Zoo.

Looking for something to do? Take a free trip to the zoo.

"Lincoln Park Zoo was first created in 1868," Vice President of Operations at Lincoln Park Zoo Brendan Daley said. "It was a much different landscape and people thought differently about zoos and animals and conservation.

Daley explained how the treatment of animals has become more ethical and sustainable.

"We do a lot of research here about what animals like in their habitats. Our CEO Dr. Megan Ross created a Zoo Monitor, which is an app that our volunteers use to track where those animals are in their habitats," Daley said. "How do they move through their day? What areas of the habitat do they like? Do they like to be in sun or shade? Do they like to be on top of rocks or in different spaces? And we've used that data to develop new spaces."
