Wild cat on the loose in northwest suburbs, police warn

HOFFMAN ESTATES (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police in the northwest suburbs are warning residents about a wild cat that’s on the loose.

Police in suburban Hoffman Estates are on the hunt for a large cat roaming the village over the past few days.

Authorities posted a photo of the animal, identified as a caracal, a medium-sized wildcat native to Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia.

It’s unknown where the animal came from, and authorities are asking people not to attempt to feed the big feline and to call the police.

The caracal was last seen in the area of Della Drive and Hilldale Golf Course, police said.
