Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - It was an early afternoon phone call on Wednesday morning from WGRZ-TV when Tony Cavallaro first heard word that his beloved Albert the Alligator was transported nearly 1,500 miles to a park and animal sanctuary in Beaumont, Texas.

"It bothers me, it's tremendously emotional," Cavallaro told WBEN on Thursday.

The 34-year-old, 725-pound alligator was seized by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in March in Cavallaro's Hamburg home after under his care for decades.

In a statement, the DEC confirms that Albert has been undergoing extensive examination and licensed veterinary care in Massachusetts since the seizure and was recently authorized for care at an authorized alligator rehabilitation facility in Texas called Gator Country Adventure Park and Animal Sanctuary , the move was authorized by a Hamburg court order.

Cavallaro soon did his research on the facility following the discovery and he is very perturbed by what he saw.

"Supposedly he's in his own little area, but that doesn't mean that they're not going have people feed the $5 hotdogs to him that they're advertising and I guess they let people do adventures and they come in and pay all this money to go and pet the alligators and swim with them and everything else. So here they took him away from me for this exact thing saying that I let people pet him and then they put him in a place where people do this," said Cavallaro.

"And they said I'm not feeding him the proper diet. And again, people are gonna be throwing hot dogs, the whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. And I'm seeing Albert's face in these pictures, he looks very, very stressed out and very sad. And I know his expression and I could see it just in one picture, it tells everything."

Cavallaro's fight to get Albert the Alligator back continues. He hopes that he can go down to the sanctuary to see him.

"All I know is that we're not going to give up on this fight. I'm just really worried about him."

I pray that what was detailed about Albert's new home is not true, that would be equally as cruel. prayers for this alligator.

What the people In TX don't understand is that the DEC took a man's pet away. You Texans would have a shootout with your conservation org. if they tried that to you. So, have a little compassion.
