Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A taste of fall is in store for part of the Northeast, including the Buffalo-Niagara region, following a warm, humid and wet weekend. However, Mother Nature will bring a return of warmth the upcoming weekend.

A new weather pattern is unfolding across the Northeast and Ohio Valley following a rather wet and humid weekend, with some folks getting a true taste of fall by midweek.

“A large, slow-moving area of high pressure will move down from Canada during the early part of the week, bringing an extended period of dry and very pleasant weather to the Northeast and mid-Atlantic," explained AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brian Thompson.

A cool, early fall-like airmass will settle into the region through midweek. While dry weather will slowly return to parts of the region through Tuesday, an upper level low will move back into the region Tuesday night through Thursday, bringing a return to unsettled weather with a few showers at times.

High pressure will then bring dry and warmer weather Friday through next weekend. Temperatures slightly below normal Friday with go back above normal by the weekend and into early next week with plenty of 80s during this time.
