Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Do you want to get paid to scare people?

Frightworld, America's Screampark, located on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo is hosting open call auditions for scare actors for the 22nd installment of their haunted house attractions.

"We are looking to hire over 175 employees for the 2024 season this year," says Trevor Feger, Frightworld's general manager.

"A bulk of them are going to be scare actors, those are going to be the monsters that are inside the houses. We're also going to be hiring queue line entertainers, ticket takers, event staff, concessions and merch employees and maintenance teams. We are also looking for makeup artists."

Frightworld asks that you email your makeup portfolio to info@frightworld.com and bring a physical copy of the portfolio when you apply.

Feger adds that you don't need any experience to audition, you just need to be over 18 years of age.

There are three days of open auditions will take place at the Frightworld location on 1001 Hertel Ave:

    - Friday, Aug. 23: 6 p.m.-10 p.m. ET
    - Saturday, Aug. 24: 12 p.m.-4 p.m. ET and 6 p.m.-9 p.m. ET
    - Sunday, Aug. 25: 12 p.m.-6 p.m. ET

"We're looking for people that are willing to get out of their comfort zone and kind of try something new," says Feger. "We're going to teach you how to become the best monster that you can be. But anybody that comes with a positive attitude that's really willing to work hard and just loves Halloween and horror is going to be an excellent candidate."

Scare actor auditionees must be prepared to perform a skit that will be provided. The interviewer may have you perform by yourself or with someone you don’t know, so be prepared to step out of your comfort zone.

All those applying for other positions may have to answer a few question during an interview process.

The Frightworld Screampark opens Sept. 20 this year, with attraction info being announced in the coming weeks and the schedule being announced this Friday, Aug. 23.

Feger notes that at least two special nights will return, which include the "Little Frights with Lights" for younger kids on Oct. 26 from 11 a.m.-to-3:30 p.m. ET and the Lights Off night for those who want a more intense, scary experience will return on Nov. 1 and 2.

In addition, the chaperone policy that was implemented last year for the safety of everyone will stay in effect for this season.

"All guests ages 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult who's at least 21-years-old," Feger explains. "That chaperone doesn't need to purchase a ticket for the haunted houses, but they do need to remain present on the property while the kids go through the haunted houses. And we're doing this again, just to make sure that everybody has a great experience. We want to make sure that it's a safe and friendly, family-friendly experience inside."

Presale tickets are available now for a limited time at $25 a person, the lowest price of the season. They will be on sale now through Aug. 28.
