    Driver dead, 3-year-old seriously injured in Amherst crash

    Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 23-year-old man from Williamsville is dead following a crash on Sheridan Drive in Amherst late Monday night.

    The crash happened at around 9:40 p.m. ET near Essjay Road. Police say the 23-year-old was driving a 2008 Chevy Impala when it hit a 2019 Honda CRV.

    The 35-year-old driver of the CRV was turning from Sheridan on to Essjay when the vehicles collided.

    The Impala burst into flames following the crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He's been identified as 23 year old Marcus Powell from

    The driver of the CRV was taken to Erie County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. However, a 3-year-old girl in the CRV sustained critical injuries, and was listed in critical, but stable condition at Oishei Children's Hospital.

    No charges have been filed. Amherst Police ask anyone with footage of the crash to contact them at (716)-689-1311.

    From what I heard the young kid was going 100+ so his fault entirely, but he paid the price.

    I wonder if it was the CRV driver's fault for making the left turn when he probably should have waited and the poor guy in the Chevy couldn't stop in time. It'll be interesting to find out. I pray the child makes it. 🙏 😢
