Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A pair of threats made against schools in Western New York resulted in the arrest of two individuals over the weekend.

This past Friday, an unknown male called Canisius High School in the City of Buffalo and left a threatening message. Upon the threat being reported, Threat Management Unit detectives at the Buffalo Police Department immediately began an investigation.

The caller was quickly identified, and detectives applied for a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order, which was granted by the Honorable Judge Donna Siwek. During the investigation, it was determined that the same caller had also left a threatening message back on Aug. 29.

Adam Hovey, 54, of Buffalo has been charged one count of Making a Terroristic Threat (Class "D" felony) and one count of Making a Threat of Mass Harm (Class "B" misdemeanor).

Buffalo Police encourages anyone to report suspicious comments or activity by calling or texting the confidential tip-line at (716)-847-2255.

Then on Sunday, the Orleans County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a 14-year-old student in the Albion Central School District in connection with making a terroristic threat on Snapchat during a conversation with peers more than a week ago.

The arrest took place after an investigation that began with a complaint made to local authorities. Upon receiving the complaint, investigators worked swiftly to assess the situation and gather evidence.

The student was taken into custody and has been charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (Class "D" felony). The juvenile was released to the custody of their parents on an appearance ticket.

The Orleans County Sheriff's Office has been in contact with the Albion School District to ensure the administration that appropriate measures are in place to maintain a safe learning environment.

The Sheriff's Office also assures the Albion community that swift action was taken to address the situation, and encourages parents and guardians to have open discussions with their kids about the seriousness of threats, and reporting such behavior.
