Guinea pig from Preston County is once again finalist in Cadbury Bunny contest

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — RedBird, a blind guinea pig from Terra Alta, West Virginia, needs your vote to become the Cadbury Bunny for 2024.

The winning “bunny” after five rounds of voting will be the Cadbury Bunny on this year’s Cadbury Easter commercial and its owner will receive a cash prize.

This is 4-year-old RedBird’s second time competing for the title ; last year, she placed fourth overall.

RedBird was adopted after being rescued from a guinea pig hoarding case that involved 36 animals. She had a rough start to life, but now enjoys her life in Preston County and even has her own honorary library card so she can “check out” audiobooks.

The first round of voting for the top 32 finalists started at noon on Monday, March 11, so people can vote for “Little RedBird” until 11:59 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12.

During this first round of voting, RedBird is going head-to-head with Tober, a 2-year-old Polish rabbit from Princeton, Minnesota. To vote, click on Little Redbird’s name in Cadbury USA’s Instagram stories.

Each round that Redbird moves forward, her owner Jennifer will win a cash prize: $100 for making the “Crème Sixteen”; $200 for making the “A Litter of Eight”; $400 for making the “Final Fur”; and $800 for making the top two. The winner will walk away with a total of $5,500.

The voting rounds are as follows:

• Round 1: 12:00 p.m. on March 11 to 11:59 a.m. on March 12
• Round 2: 12:00 p.m. on March 13 to 11:59 a.m. on March 14
• Round 3: 12:00 p.m. on March 18 to 11:59 a.m. on March 19
• Round 4: 12:00 p.m. on March 20 to 11:59 a.m. on March 21
• Round 5: 12:00 p.m. on March 22 to 11:59 a.m. on March 23

The winner will be announced on Monday, March 25.
