    3 charged after drugs found during traffic stop in Lewis County

    WESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Three people have been charged after law enforcement officers found multiple drugs while stopping a box truck in Lewis County.

    According to a release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, Aug. 2, law enforcement officers performed a traffic stop on a yellow box truck in reference to a possible abduction incident involving two Middle Eastern men that began in Braxton County.

    The truck was stopped near the 101-mile marker of Interstate 79, and while the truck was stopping, law enforcement officers said they saw an item being thrown from the vehicle that was later collected and identified as cocaine.

    During a subsequent investigation, law enforcement officers also found a plastic bag containing one gram of meth, a total of seven grams of marijuana and seven multi-colored pills suspected to be pressed fentanyl, the release said.

    Three people were charged in the incident including:

    • Ali Al-Azawi, 34, of Clayton, NC
    • Alison Elizabeth Abou Shaheen, 42, of Knightdale, NC
    • Naim BouChahine, 39, whose hometown was not specified.

    All of them are being held in the Central Regional Jail on no bond.

    This case was investigated by members of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, the Weston Police Department and the Mountain Region Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.
