JANE LEW, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after allegedly firing a pistol multiple times after “a night of heavy drinking” in Lewis County.

On Aug. 5, deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of Broad Run Road in Jane Lew after the sound of gunshots was reported, according to a criminal complaint.

When deputies arrived, they said they received footage from a Nest door camera which recorded the sound of 11 gunshots “and some screaming” coming from a nearby home.

Deputies then noticed “people out with flashlights” on a nearby hillside and made contact with them, who turned out to be the victims of the incident and were “looking for car keys,” according to the complaint.

The victims told deputies that Praxedis Delgado “returned home from a night of heavy drinking and backed his truck into a ditch” and was “irate and screaming” before Delgado began “shooting a loaded 9mm pistol into the woods while screaming at everyone present,” deputies said.

The victims then fled inside the residence, and once inside, a victim told deputies that Delgado entered and the victim “heard Delgado say that he was ‘going to shoot us’,” according to the complaint.

Delgado has been charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm. He is being held in Central Regional Jail on $20,000 bond.
