    2 dead after crashing during pursuit in Nicholas County

    NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Two people are dead after crashing into a tree during a pursuit that went from Beckley to Summersville overnight, according to the Summersville Police Department.

    According to a press release from the Beckley Police Department, the pursuit started int he 500 block of Neville Street. Summersville Police Chief Jay Nowak said the pursuit made its way onto Route 19. He said the pursuit reached speeds of more than 100 mph.

    The Summersville Police Department put down stop sticks to stop the vehicle. The vehicle hit the sticks, crossed the median and crashed into a tree at Hughes Street and Airport Road, according to the Summersville PD.

    Police Chief Nowak said the two people in that vehicle were killed: R.J. Snodgrass, 42, of Summersville, and Adam Frazier, of Pax.

    It is not known why the pursuit started at this time. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
