Survey: West Virginia among most underrated states to live in

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A recent survey that aimed to find the best places to live in America deemed West Virginia as one of the most underrated states.

Warm weather states like Florida, California, Texas and Hawaii were voted the most desirable states to live, according to the survey by Clever Real Estate , but based on things that Americans say they look for when deciding where to live, West Virginia stacks up pretty well.

Low crime, low living/housing costs, good weather, low taxes, things to do and natural beauty are the factors that Americans take in account the most, according to the survey. With scenery that is so beautiful it’s “almost heaven” and one of the lowest costs of living in the U.S. , its no surprise that West Virginia was ranked in the top 10 most underrated states to live in.

Although it doesn’t have any large cities, West Virginia has plenty of things to do; Clever even called it “a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts.” In fact, several less populated states, including West Virginia, Alaska, Wyoming and Montana, were considered the most underrated.

“It appears Americans are tired of cramped city living and are looking to move to states with plenty of room to spread out,” the Clever study said.

Other underrated states, according to the survey, were Colorado, Vermont, Tennessee, Virginia, Arizona and Washington.
