VALLEY HEAD, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident from earlier this week where a utility truck was found crashed with no driver.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, on Aug. 13, deputies responded to U.S. Route 219 outside of Valley Head after a single-vehicle rollover was reported involving a commercial aerial lift truck.

Investigators determined that the vehicle was traveling northbound and had veered into the southbound lane before colliding with the guard rail, trees, utility lines and a fence before ultimately rolling over an embankment. Investigators said that the driver, who was not identified, then got out of the vehicle and fled the area on foot.

Man found guilty of gruesome Fairmont murder

The release said that charges are pending against the driver.

Crews from the sheriff’s office were assisted by the Valley Head Volunteer Fire Department, Huttonsville/Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Randolph County EMS and the West Virginia Division of Highways.
