Stranger Things actor and more at WV PopCon 2024

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Morgantown’s annual pop culture and comic book convention is returning this weekend, with Stranger Things actor Randy Havens set to attend.

You may recognize Haven’s face from his variety of movie and television roles, including Scott Clarke , the science teacher in Stranger Things and Till from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III.

For the people keen to meet Havens in person, the convention is offering several VIP ticket tiers ranging from a selfie with the actor to shirt or item signatures. WV PopCon will also be holding a meet and greet at the Brew Pub in downtown Morgantown; you can find passes to the meet and greet when you purchase your ticket to WV PopCon .

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

• 1 p.m. – Panel Room
  • CosPain Live Draw — Join an artist as they draw a comic strip while answering questions from the audience
• 2 p.m. – Main Stage
  • Lightsaber Blade Matches — Presented by the Outer Rim Praxeum
• 3 p.m. – Main Stage
  • Kids Cosplay Contest (12 years old or younger)
• 4 p.m. – Panel Room
  • Indie Comics Round-Up — Comics authors talk about being a creator and other topics including crowdfunding, publishing, advertising and promoting.
• 5 p.m. – Panel Room
  • Alignments in the Upside Down — “Where exactly DO the Stranger Things folks fall on the Alignment Chart?”
• 5 p.m. – Main Stage
  • Shii-Cho Lightsaber Class – Presented by the Outer Rim Praxeum

Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• 11 a.m. – Panel Room
  • Cosplay on a Budget — “Learn how to cosplay without breaking the bank!”
• Noon – Panel Room
  • Cosplay Positivity — “Join our hosts as they chat with participants about their cosplay fears and how to overcome them.”
• Noon – Tabletop Arena
  • Sabacc Demo — “Join the Outer Rim Praxeum for a demo of the in-universe Star Wars game Sabacc.”
• 1 p.m. – Panel Room
  • Cosplay Corsetting — “Join our host as they explain proper techniques for corseting and waist training, proper techniques for measuring for them and more!”
• 2 p.m. – Panel Room
  • Brute Force Cosplay — “Learn how to cosplay from scratch and do it quickly.”
• 2 p.m. – Main Stage
  • WV PopCon Bowl — Lightsaber Blade Matches Presented by the Outer Rim Praxeum
• 3 p.m. – Main Stage
  • Teen and Adult Cosplay Competition — Teen competition starts at 3 p.m., with the adult competition immediately after.
