WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WVNS) — Representatives with the Greenbrier Council of Labor Unions (GCLU) have announced that employees of The Greenbrier will receive benefits for a little longer after being told earlier this week that they may lose them.

According to a press release, the Amalgamated National Health Fund will keep providing health care benefits to Greenbrier employees who are represented by the GCLU. Greenbrier Hotel employees were originally sent a letter detailing the potential loss of their benefits due to funds not being met by the Greenbrier Hotel Corporation. Those benefits were initially set to be revoked on Aug. 27, the day that The Greenbrier was set to be auctioned, but will now be provided until Aug. 31.

According to GCLU chairperson Peter Bostic, the financial delinquencies are “factual, tangible and documented”.

“We continue to demand The Greenbrier’s delinquent contractual obligations be met and remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached between the ANHF and The Greenbrier to continue benefits in the future,” Bostic said.

This update comes the day after Gov. Jim Justice ensured during a press briefing that all employee benefits would continue to be active.
