MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — If you were hoping to get a hotel room in Morgantown for West Virginia University’s home opener , you might be too late.

According to stay-booking websites like Hotels.com and Expedia, all but a few rooms in the whole Morgantown area are sold out for the night of Friday, Aug. 30, the night before the WVU vs. Penn State game which kicks off at noon on Saturday, Aug. 31.

As of Tuesday morning, the few hotels available were on the outskirts of the metro area in Westover, Star City and West Sabraton and near the Pierpont Center off I-68. But even those rooms were going for around $500 before taxes and fees, according to Hotels.com .

Even places a decent drive from Morgantown like Fairmont, Bruceton Mills and as far as Clarksburg and Bridgeport are either sold out or almost sold out. The same is the case for rental services like Airbnb.

There are a few more stay options for the night after the game, but they will cost a pretty penny.

Single-game tickets for the matchup are also sold out, and according to the WVU Sports website , there are only a handful of tickets still available as season tickets. Resale tickets on SeatGeek start at $181 as of Tuesday morning.

Milan Puskar Stadium has a capacity of 60,000, but depending on how many students choose to attend, there could be more people than that. Last year for the Backyard Brawl against Pitt, more than 61,000 people packed in , and at the most highly attended game in the stadium’s history, more than 70,000 people crammed in.
