Balloons Over Morgantown announces 2024 launch times

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Balloons Over Morgantown, Morgantown’s annual hot air balloon festival, is returning in 2024 with five different launches throughout the four-day event.

The festival will kick off at the Morgantown Mall on Thursday night, Oct. 3 with the Night Glow. Night Glow is a fun display where pilots light up the night with their balloons and is free for the public, although the balloons will not actually take flight.

The main part of the event is of course the balloon launches, which will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can find a full schedule of the different launches below.

Thursday, Oct. 3

• 7 p.m. — Night Glow at the Morgantown Mall in front of the WVU Medicine building

Friday, Oct. 4

• 8 a.m. — Morning launch at the Morgantown Municipal Airport
• 4 p.m. — Afternoon launch at the Morgantown Municipal Airport

Saturday, Oct. 5

• 8 a.m. — Morning launch at the Morgantown Municipal Airport
• 4 p.m. — Afternoon launch at the Morgantown Municipal Airport

Sunday, Oct. 6

• 8 a.m. — Morning launch at the Morgantown Municipal Airport
