CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A truck driver is expected to be charged after they allegedly fled the scene of an accident in Harrison County and then crashed on Interstate 79 in Lewis County.

According to the Harrison County 911 Communications Center, a five-vehicle accident was reported around 7:30 a.m. on U.S. Route 50 at the top of Bridgeport Hill. A semi truck that was involved in the collision fled the scene, officials said.

Law enforcement chased the truck to Quiet Dell, but the driver fled onto I-79 and then crashed at exit 99 in Weston, comm center officials told 12 News.

Viewer submitted video from Robert Keener shows the driver, who appears to be a woman, speeding through the parking lot of the 7-Eleven gas station in Quiet Dell with law enforcement officers following behind. In the video above, a Clarksburg Police officer can be seen approaching the vehicle, opening the truck’s driver-side door and telling the woman to “stop” and “get out of the car,” before the driver speeds away, comes back through the gas station parking lot and then gets onto I-79.

A later video, which can be viewed below, shows the same truck tipped over on I-79 right before the Weston exit at mile marker 99, which is more than 15 miles from the Quiet Dell exit and about 20 miles from the initial collision on Route 50.

The driver was placed in custody and taken to United Hospital Center in Bridgeport to be evaluated, officials said. Comm center officials did not know whether the driver was injured or what charged they will face.
