At least 1 injured in reported aircraft accident in Marion County

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Multiple crews responded to a reported aircraft accident in Marion County Friday afternoon.

Details are limited at this time, but 911 officials told 12 News that the incident was called in at 3:16 p.m. As of 4:29 p.m., officials said that one ambulance had taken an unknown number of people to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. It remains unclear whether or not an aircraft crashed or what caused the accident.

12 News has a reporter on the scene who said that there is a large emergency response within the boundary of the Fairmont Municipal Airport. They’re in the process of gathering more information.

Crews from the Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Monongah Volunteer Fire Department, Boothsville Volunteer Fire Department, Winfield District Volunteer Fire Department, Fairmont Fire Department, Marion County Rescue Squad, Natural Resources Police, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Police and the Marion County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management were alerted to this call.
