CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Fresh fruits and vegetables are now available at the new Dollar General (DG) Market in the Wilsonburg area.

DG Market locations offer an expanded selection of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables as well as normal Dollar General items. They have been popping up across north central West Virginia including in West Milford earlier this year .

The new location is at 647 Wilsonburg Rd just outside of Clarksburg. Although the store is already open, there will be a grand opening event on Sept. 7 starting at 8 a.m. The first 50 adult customers to the store on that day will receive a $10 gift card, and the first 100 customers will receive a free tote bag, according to a press release.

The store is expected to employ about 10-15 people.

    Fastest-growing jobs in West Virginia

“At Dollar General, we believe the addition of our new Clarksburg store provides positive economic growth for the community through the creation of new jobs and career growth opportunities; increased accessibility to affordable products; the generation of tax revenue and access to Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants,” Matthew Simonsen, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development, said in the release.

Dollar General will also be donating 100 new books to a nearby elementary school to celebrate the new store’s opening, although the press release did not specify what school.
