MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A Pittsburgh man allegedly took his Uber driver’s car after threatening to “beat him up” in Morgantown.

On Friday, Aug. 30, deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Airport Boulevard in Morgantown for a report of a carjacking, according to a criminal complaint.

While en route, deputies learned that an Uber driver had attempted to drop passengers off, but when they exited the vehicle, they “threated to ‘beat him up,’ causing physical harm,” and then took the vehicle, deputies said.

When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the victim, who pointed to the vehicle “sitting in the center of a parking lot just off the roadway,” and when deputies approached the vehicle, they observed Allan Conteh, 26, of Pittsburgh, in the driver’s seat, according to the complaint.

Deputies then detained Conteh and read a Miranda statement, after which Conteh told deputies that the vehicle “belonged to his girlfriend who he was attempting to pick up from work.” However, the vehicle’s registration came back to another individual, deputies said.

The victim told deputies that “when he was attempting to drop Conteh off, he had exited the vehicle and then threatened him. The victim said he “felt threatened and got out of the car” before Conteh “drove down the street,” according to the complaint.

Conteh has been charged with robbery. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
